These Krobo trade beads are a mix of recycled glass and powdered glass beads created in a time honored tradition by master bead makers in Ghana’s Eastern Region for centuries.
Powdered glass beads are typically made from bottles and other glass items that are turned into powder, then into molds in order to create this nice looking beads. Decorations on the beads are made with a paste made of colored glass powder and water, which is applied using a thin wooden stalk. They are cooked a second time to fix the decor. Each strand is unique
These beads have moved between continents, countries and owners for decades. Imperfections are possible and only add to the character.
