Hibiscus Tea: Good for the Body

Hibiscus is not only one of my favorite flowers, it is also one of my favorite flowers for tea!

The dried petals are perfect for a wide range of tea/drink options offering wonderful tart and bold floral flavor. Dried hibiscus flowers stand on their own as a tea option but when you add other ingredients, amazing things happen!

Recently, my preferred detox tea mix is hibiscus, black peppercorns, ginger, and honey!

Why Hibiscus:

– It has vitamin C
– It is packed with antioxidants
– It can help with weight loss

– It can be beneficial to our skin
– It helps to reduce inflammation
– It can help lower blood pressure
– It’s simply delicious

Ingredients

  • 2 cup dried hibiscus (check your local Africa or Mexican market)
  • 5 Cracked black peppercorns
  • 10 Cloves
  • 1 small piece of peeled and crushed ginger
  • 2 tblsp of honey
  • 3 cups of BOILING HOT water

Process

Add all dry ingredients into a French press then pour your boiling hot water and let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes.

Once the tea is at a safe temperature for drinking, pour into your cup, add honey then stir, and enjoy!

Considerations

If you do not have a French press, you can still make this tea happen! All of your ingredients can steep in any vessel, just be sure to strain out the ingredients while pouring into your cup(s).

Alternatively, you can use a teapot that has a built in or removable tea diffuser.

My new cast Japanese style iron tea kettle has helped me take my loose tea passion to a new level with its available tea diffuser that allows me to steep my tea as the water boils so I essentially save a step because the diffuser keeps all of my dry ingredients separate.
